With the cut-out done in the leading edge I could then move on to installing the nutplates that hold the mounting plate in position. These are very difficult to install, but I got there in the end. A right angle drill and an extension drill bit both came in very handy for this little excercise.
For some reason the mounting plate for the landing lights is supplied over length. This is called out in the instructions, which say to cut off approximately 1", and then rivet the two pieces back together at the length necessary for a good fit between the two wing ribs.
I had no dramas here, and got the two pieces cut, shut, drilled, deburred, smoothed and alodined. I also gave a coat of gloss white paint before calling it a day.
