Brief Description:  2: Static Ports

Another little task completed today was installation of the two static ports in the tail section. Without thinking I ended up ordering a static port kit from Vans, as well as Dynon. The Dynon version is far superior, so I dedicded to use that. I'll resell the Vans kit on the aviation forums perhaps, although, it's not worth much, so might just keep amongst my growing collection of spare bits'n pieces.

I'd previously marked out the static port locations as per Vans drawings, however noted that the Dynon ports are quite a bit larger, and therefore needed to be centred about 10mm further forward so they would clear the neighbouring bulkhead flange (see picture below). I don't believe this will be a problem.

I marked and drilled holes in the skin and static ports, and then dimpled/countersunk to suit flush rivets.

Friend Paul called around at just the right time, so I got him to assist with the riveting....him on the inside with the bucking bar, me on the rivet gun. Rivets came out very neat.

Will run some plumbing tomorrow.
