I started my Sunday morning by finishing off the two aileron control rods that I started yesterday. Both were very well coated inside with a thick layer of primer, so thick in fact that I needed to cut away the paint near the end with a knife so that I could get the threaded rod end in.
Once I could get the rod ends in then I applied a thin, fresh coat of primer, then pushed the rod ends into place. I figure that will create a nicely sealed surface between the two parts. I just hope I never have to get them apart again.
With the rod ends in place, and before riveting, I then painted the outside surfaces. I wanted the rivets to be unpainted when finished. Once dry, which didn't take long as it was a glorious spring day out here today, then I completed both rod ends on each, and installed the bearings and locking nuts.
