Today's shop task was to improve the fit of various baffle panels. I removed all the previously installed panels and did some minor grinding and deburring to get a tight but better fit. One of the screw holes (number 3 cylinder) was slightly misaligned so it was enlarged a little. The starboard aft baffle was ground a bit to make it fit the engine case better and the oblong hole over the engine mounting bolt was enlarged a bit. The aft baffle panels were match drilled #12 to the center bracket.
There was no screw hole in the engine case for the fastener shown in picture 1 below. I marked its location and drilled it out to accommodate a 1/4x20 tap. The hole was tapped and the baffle reinstalled. So far the baffles seem to fit as advertised.
I finished up the shop session by match drilling, deburring, and riveting where possible the baffles for cylinders 1 and 2. I set these aside for now since the cowl must be fitted first.
