Spent the last couple days installing an aftermarket flap positioning system from a company called Show Planes. The system is tied to a flap switch on the Infinity Grip on both the pilot and copilot's stick. The flap switch is the toggle type having three positions. The center position is neutral. If you momentarily push the switch down the flap actuator will lower the flaps to the first preset position. Hit the switch again and the flaps extend to the second position. Hit the switch one more time and the flaps are fully extended. To raise the flaps just push the switch up and the flaps retract completely.
You can see from the photos the flap mechanism required quite a large hole in the armrest member. I intend to remove just a little more metal to ensure the actuator never touches the armrest even after there is some wear in the mechanism. I also fabricated a interior panel to cover the actuator so it cannot touch the copilot's arm. The moving parts of the actuator need to be isolated from any interference with body parts or loose materials in the cockpit. I didn't like enlarging the hole in the armrest but there was no alternative. It didn't really effect structural integrity especially with the two interior panels installed.
I also fabricated the two flap push/pull tubes that will attach the flapsto the white flap bar you see in the photos. Bothe the push/pull tubes and the actuator cover panel were primed and painted today so tomorrow I will get a picture and post it.
