Brief Description:  Cockpit rails & miscellaneous internal riveting

Today I began adding some of the internal components and miscellaneous riveting that will make the fuselage more rigid for the mounting and match drilling of the landing gear legs. The first item was the eight number 3 rivets required to attach the bracket between the two bottom structural members that form the pivot point for the elevator bell crank. The top rivets can be squeezed but the side ones must be driven and bucked.

Next were the gussets on each side of the fuselage that had to be riveted to the bulkhead and the floor supports that had to be riveted to their outboard gussets and inboard floor ribs. There were also about three rivets required on the left and right arm rests for attachment to the bulkheads. I had already riveted the arm rests to the cabin side skins so this step was not necessary.

The bolts that attach the seat belt brackets were installed. Finally, the cockpit rails were clecoed in place and all the rivets that could be squeezed were set. I still have a few rivets to finish on the cockpit rails but they will require bucking.
