Brief Description: Finished riveting the fwd port skin to LG weldment
Connie and I completed the riveting on the port side forward fuselage skin to the landing gear weldment. Although it is tight quarters for bucking, the port side actually went quicker than the starboard side. As soon as I begin to get the hang of a shop procedure on the RV-8 it's complete. Reminds me of college. The "light bulb" usually came on just after the exam when it was too late, seldom before.
This afternoon I picked up a set of standard Van's landing gear from a fellow RV-8 builder who opted for some afterrmarket Grove light weight gear. I took a few minutes to inspect the U brackets and my newer wear plates to ensure they match. Everything appears in order even though the gear components came from a kit produced around 1999-2000.
Hopefully, I can get my number one son to drop by the shop tomorrow and help me flip the fuselage upright.
