Brief Description: Test fit canopy bow (roll bar) weldment
Once the cockpit rails, seat back support, and the center section bulkhead caps were drilled, I took a few minutes to test fit the canopy bow (roll bar). I was expecting to find the bow a little too narrow requiring it to be sprung or widened about 1/4". However, the bow has about that much spring in it and was easy to cleco in place on the rails. I don't think it will be necessary to widen the bow when it's time to install.
By the way, the measurement taken from the outside edge of the flanges at the aft end of the weldment after clecoing is 31 3/8". According to various websites, the proper cockpit width at this point is 31.5" so mine is not perfect but very close. The edge distances when matched drilled to the upper longerons should be fine but I will double check again when ready to install.
