Brief Description:  Begin drilling fuselage skins

I have been out of town the last few days so am just now updating my log for work completed on 28 Aug. Bottom line, the entire work session was spent match drilling fuselage skins.

I began by match drilling all the #30 and #40 holes in the forward fuselage skins on both sides per the step-by-step instructions in the shop manual. The #19 holes through the forward side skins near the bottom of the landing gear boxes were also drilled. There were two holes on each side as called out in Detail B of Dwg 74 that were not clear, at least to me. I spent some time trying to decide if they were to be drilled out or left at the #30 size. After some research I found they will be drilled out to a larger size when a wing attach bracket is fabricated later on in the assembly process. That is good because I had accidentally drilled out one of the four holes to #19 (to be drilled #12 later so won't create an issue).

After completing the drilling on the forward skins I moved to the mid-fuselage side skins and began by match drilling the #40 holes common with the left and right upper longerons. I also began the process of drilling all the remaining #40 and #30 holes not prviously drilled in the mid-fuselage side skins. Unfortunately, I ran out of 3/32" clecos and time.

I should be back in the shop tomorrow, 4 Sept, with a fresh supply of silver clecos and plan to continue the fuselage match drilling.
