Brief Description:  Dimpling wing skeleton and tank inspection

The wing skeleton still had some preparation so I began the day by deburring all the ribs and the rear spar. Once deburred, I used the pneumatic squeezer to dimple all the ribs and the rear spar. In the areas on the spar with reinforcement plates I machine countersunk the holes. These areas are too thick to dimple but the countersink cage works very well. On all the dimpled holes I used a deburring tool in an electric screwdriver to touch up the dimples so the skin to spar fit will be better. I am leaving the plastic film on the rear spar as long as possible to protect the metal against any abrasion while riveting the skins. The wing skeleton is ready to accept the tank and skins.

Using a mirror and flashlight I inspected the rib fillets and shop head encapsulations looking for any voids. I found one rivet that may have a slight void but frankly, it is hard to tell sometimes with the light reflecting off the shiny aluminum and black sealant. Anyway, I plan to have one more good look before installing the rear baffle.
