Brief Description: Built hanging shelves for storage of empennage
I had planned on storing the completed empennage components under beds in the master and guest bedrooms but changed my mind. There was enough ceiling space in the garage to accomodate all the pieces. All that was required was some suspended rails to form shelves for the various control surfaces.
I began by ripping a couple scrap 2x4s into 2x2s. The next step was to glue a strip of outdoor carpet the entire length of the 2x2 rails and insert 1/4" eye bolts in each end. The eye bolts were then attached to eye bolts screwed into the ceiling rafters with a short length of chain. All that remained was to slide the empennage components onto the rails. They are safely out of the way and I have all my shop floor space back.
