Brief Description:  Initial assembly of left wing

All the ribs for the left wing were carefully selected per the plans. My first thought was that the L suffix on the part numbers indicated left wing but not so. The L versus R indicates whether the flange is oriented to the left or right (wonder if anyone has ever got into a hurry and messed up a wing... the matched holes would probably save the inattentive).

Anyway, once the ribs were selected I went through and marked all the part numbers in Sharpie and removed the gum labels. Next, a session of rib fluting was in order at my kitchen table in the air conditioning (the shop is not air conditioned and Ohio is hot and humid). Following the rib straightening, all the edges were deburred (flanges and lightening holes).

Finally, I clecoed all but the tip ribs into place between the main and rear spars in prepararion for match drilling. My next task will be to fabricate a small bracket to be bolted to the tip rib to provide an attach point for the jig support. Once the bracket is complete, I can mount the last two ribs and get on with the match drilling.

It's still early, but so far the wing build is progressing nicely. I do need to take some time tomorrow and store the tail components so they don't get damaged in the shop. I also need the additional space.
