Wright B Flyer (B in a Box)
Page 1

Having some free time today, I decided to visit the Wright B Flyer Museum located at Wright Brothers Memorial Airport south of Dayton. The museum has been home to a flying Wright B replica for many years. More recently the volunteers at the museum have been building a second Wright B Flyer which will be easier to transport for appearances at airshows and aviation events around the U.S. and perhaps the world. To learn more about the museum, its mission and the airplanes check out www.wright-b-flyer.org.

I have included a few pictures of the new Wright Flyer as it is being assembled. They refer to the new airplane as either the "Silver Bird" (the color of its struts and framing) or the "B in a Box" which is descriptive of its ability to be broken down and fitted into a standard shipping container for long distance transport. Many of the volunteers working on the project are also volunteers I work with at the Air Force Museum. You know aviators and entusiasts, we just can't get enough of airplanes.
