Contemplating the eventual build of a kit aircraft, I began outfitting my two-car garage with the necessary equipment to build an aluminum aircraft of standard construction (aircraft in mind was an RV-8 from Van's Aircraft). While some of the tools acquired are not absolutely necessary, each one has made some aspect of the project easier and contributed to a quality product. My first purchase was a portable table saw from Sears. Purchase of the major power tools was scheduled over a period of months taking advantage of Craftsman Club sales saving considerable dollars. By the way, when building the EAA work tables, I made table tops the same height as the work surface on the saw. The tables can then provide needed support when ripping large pieces. The EAA work tables can be used for a variety of projects in the shop beyond building the RV-8.
