Brief Description: Begin building the rudder skeleton
Clecoed the rudder spar reinforcement plates (R-606PP, R-607PP and R-608PP) to the rudder spar channel (R-802PP). The lower plate (R-606PP) is positioned on the forward side of the spar web while the remaining two plates go on the aft side.
Fabricated the R-717 spacer and both R-716 rudder bottom attach strips. Trimmed R-710 per details on plan. Enlarged the bottom most rod end hole in the forward flange of R-704 to 3/8" using unibit.
Clecoed R-704, R-405PD, R-710, R-717 and the platenuts that will hold rod end bearings to the spar (R-802PP). Prepared the R-703 tip rib (smoothed edges and fluted) and clecoed it to the spar (R-802PP).Final drilled to #30 holes that attach R-703 to R-802PP. Removed R-703 from the spar.
Clecoed the R-713 counterbalance skin to R-703 tip rib. Fluted the forward flange of the tip rib so the holes in the forward face of R-713 match those in the forward flange of R-703. Final drilled the holes that attach the counterbalance skin (R-713) to the tip rib (R-703).
Drilled to final size all the prepunched holes in the R-802PP spar web. Drilled to final size the holes attaching the rudder horn brace (R-710) to the rudder horn ( R-405PD) and the bottom rib (R-704).
