You can see here the entire front edge of the ramp had to be cut away to accommodate the air filter. Once the snorkel with its flanges is screwed in place and the filter retaining plate is added, the ramp is rigid. The rubber seal material attached to the cowl overlaps the forward edge of the filter reataining plate and seals the inlet ramp.
