Brief Description:  Starboard canopy skirt - Step 5

I fianlly marked the aft end of the skirts for a butt splice. The plan was to hold the two edges together with a temporary metal plate then glass both sides of the seam. However, since this area is fairly stressed and has to attach to the canopy at a particularly difficult place (thick glass and small radius in frame) I decided to make the metal a permanent part of the splice. You can see the beginning steps below and more on the following day's post.

I also had to spend hours today fitting the canopy latch. In order to keep the latch from rubbing the skirt it had to be filed down and polished to remove almost an 1/8" of thickness. I also had to make a 1/8" spacer to place between the nylon washer and the handle once it was modified. I still have more shaping and polishing to do on the handle but it now works.
