Brief Description:  Aileron alignment tool & port wing tip

I began the shop session fabricating the aileron alignment tool. Rather than wood which may warp I made the tool from a length of 1"x1/8"x48" aluminum. I built the tool per the plans. The only thing added was a spacer at each end to account for the thickness of the aileron bracket. I had used the rib holes called out in the plans earlier for attaching the wing to the building jig. These holes had been opened up to 1/4" so my parallel reference lines are just a bit wider than called for in the drawings. Shouldn't matter as long as my aileron is centered between the lines.

Next task was to install the Archer antenna in the port wing tip. The leading edge of the antenna is fastened to the tip with three screws. The rest of the antenna is bonded with epoxy to the tip. I drilled a #30 hole about every three inches in the flat aluminum antenna, scuffed the area around the holes with scotchbrite, and epoxied the strips to the tip. I made sure the epoxy squeezed up thru the holes to ensure a good bond.

Next, I spliced some 14 awg wire to the landing and taxi lights and routed the bundled wires thru the plastic guides supplied with the Archer antenna. I also cut a length of coax which will attach to the antenna on one end and the coax cable that runs thru the wing to the ILS/GLS radio in the panel. Still have to terminate the coax.

Finally, I added a ground wire to the AeroLed lights and bundled it with the power wires. Still need to attach the molex pins and connector.
