Brief Description:  Installation of NACA vent in wing

I fabricated a mounting ring for the NACA vent to be installed in the starboard wing. I haven't decided yet how to attach the vent to the inner surface of the wing. One option would be rivets, either pulled or solid and this is what is mentioned in the instructions. The shop instructions also mention sealing with proseal.

I think the vent has to be installed after riveting the skin, otherwise the vent tends to stiffen the skin making the bucking process harder. Trying to seal and rivet the vent after the skin is riveted, however, won't be particularly easy.

I am seriously considering putting nutplates on the mounting ring and using some flush head number 6 screws. Rather than proseal maybe I could use some thin gasket material between the fiberglass vent and the aluminum skin. Have to give this some serious thought.
