Brief Description:  Electrical Testing

First, I have received all the hardware to replace the stock landing gear bolts, nuts, and washers. As you will recall, there have been some issue with the stock parts and many builders recommend upgrading the hardware. I decided to err on the side of safety and reliability so I ordered the stronger components. You will see the hardware below. Note the slightly longer bolt and taller nut. The washers are also harder and narrower so they won't interfere with the mounting weldment.

Overnight it occurred to me that I connected the LED dimmer switch to the wrong power source so while correcting this error I decided to test all my temp probes with the Electronics International gauge. The test also verified the dimmer circuit is working properly.

All the probes checked out with the exception of the Outside Air Temp (OAT). I verified the probe was inop by connecting a cylinder head probe to the OAT wires and adding some heat. It generated no temp change on the gauge. I further verified the problem on the bench by hooking it up to a multi-meter to see if the thermocouple generated any voltage when the probe was heated and it did not. The resistance test on the probe as outlined in the shop manual also indicated a problem. So, I guess it will be necessary to order a replacement. Oh well, it's just another hundred bucks. Seems like all airplane parts are some multiple of $100.
