Brief Description:  Circuit testing

Today I went back over much of the wiring and tested the circuits. Actual circuits verified included the radio fuse block, fuel boost pump with LED indicator (stick switch), strobes, nav lights, landing lights, taxi lights, gyro power circuit, main battery fuse block, instrument fuse block, Hobbs meter and low oil pressure LED, landing light on LED, copilot map lights, pilot map lights and +12V power outlets.

I am using a number of tools to facilitate circuit testing. I have included a couple pictures below of the common items. I purchased four small 12V lamps with 6" wire leads and some alligator clips from RadioShack to fabricate some simple test lamps. Some time ago I fabricated a battery pack with a couple 6V lantern batteries in series. I included a switch to reverse the current direction so I could easily test trim servos.

I also use a couple simple test probes purchased at Harbor Freight. One is a 1.5V continuity tester powered by an internal battery. The other probe is unpowered and just contains a 14V bulb that lights whenever it is inserted into a live circuit. By the way, I have burned out more than one 1.5V bulb when inadvertently using the continuity tester on a 12V circuit!
