Brief Description: Temporarily installed canopy rails and Frame
The canopy frame, rails, and mounting components were temporarily installed today. I had to remove the canopy slide in order to dimple the holes in the bulkhead to mount the canopy locking block in the slide receptacle. I mounted the rails with the correct fasteners so I could begin "adjusting the frame" to match the fuselage contours.
I think the width of the frame is about right but the big bowed tube on the front will have to be bent aft about 3/8" away from the windscreen roll bar. The aft end of the frame also needs some serious adjustment.
By the way, before refabricating the canopy locking block ruined ealier, I purchased a cheap drill press vise at Lowes to clamp pieces so they don't get jerked from my hands. Should have bought one of these a long time ago. They are handy and much safer.
I also bought a small 6" carpenters vise that should be handy for holding some aluminum stock while fabricating various parts. I will add a picture when it's installed in the shop.
