Brief Description: Installed latch & worked on panel layout.
I ordered another Southco flush mounted paddle latch and installed it on my storage compartment in the forward cockpit, starboard side. I think the compartment turned out quite nice though it took some time to fabricate as usual. I then spent some time trying to decide on my panel layout. My biggest challenge seems to be where to put the parking brake cable (T-Handle). Here you see it mounted just above where the Hobbs meter will be going. I would prefer it on the left aux panel but it would be just above a magnetic compass and will almost certainly cause some interference. I will have to mount the panel back in the airplane to determine if there is enough room to operate the handle with the forward top skin installed.
I would prefer to install the cable high rather than low since it allows better routing to the parking brake (short run with no tight curves). As soon as the Hobbs meter, mag switch, and two other optional toggle switches arrive I will drill and cut the necessary mounting holes in the aux panel.
