Brief Description:  Finished preparation of forward bottom skins

The forward bottom skins for the fuselage were completed today. The skins had previously been clecoed in place so it was just a matter of match drilling, removal, deburring, and dimpling all the required holes. The skins will be ready to install as soon as the landing gear are positioned and match drilled to the fuselage.

I have decided to go with the stock gear from Van's. I had ordered the kit without the gear legs and U brackets. I will be acquiring the gear parts tomorrow from a local RV-8 builder who opted for the Grove gear.

Should be able to flip the fuselage structure upright in the next day or two so I can accomplish a little internal work to further strengthen the fuselage in preparation for mounting and match drilling the gear components. Adding the seat back support, canopy rails, and rear deck should make the fuselage more rigid (must be plumb and true when aligning the gear).
