I first saw this paint scheme on a P-51D named Zimmy IV at the NMUSAF. This sketch needs to have the checkered tail rescaled to enlarge the blocks in the checkering. The wing tips could be checkered and yellow stripes added to the wings. A narrow yellow band could be added just behind the red nose bowl as well.
