Brief Description:  Began tailcone bulkheads

Since I am delayed a little on the center section, I decided to skip ahead to assembly of the tailcone bulkheads. I began by separating the rudder stops and the other angled parts shown in the F-800 Parts Separation Diagram on Dwg 70. These parts were made from 1/8" angle so I made the cuts with my bandsaw. Appropriate radiuses were added and all the angled parts were cleaned up on the scotchbrite wheel. The F-812 bulkhead halves were clecoed together and the forward flanges were opened to match (parallel) the rear flanges. The 1/8" holes common between the bulkhead halves were match drilled.

The WD-409 tail spring mount was clamped into place and the keeper rivet holes drilled using the bulkhead pilot holes as guides. The holes for the keeper rivets were machine countersunk on the aft side. The F-812 bulkheads and weldment were disassembled, all holes deburred, and dimpled as appropriate (flush heads on aft side).

The F-811 stab attach bars were fabricated per the plans and clecoed to the F-811 bulkhead hallves with the F-811-C-1 angle. All holes were match drilled and the flanges on the forward F-811 bulkhead half were opened to parallel the flanges on the aft half.

Finally, a first primer coat was sprayed on the tail spring weldment. After I get the stab attach bars cleaned up, I will prime all the non-alclad angled parts.
