Brief Description:  Missed rivets installed & fuel sender lead

While building the starboard wing I discovered some rib to front spar rivets that were missed on the port wing. These rivets were located at the extreme forward edge of the rib flange and are hidden by the tank skin when installed. There are actually two rivets at this location (one holding the rib to spar and the other attaching the bottom skin, rib, and spar). I decided to move the wing back onto the jig long enough to remove the tank and install the few missing rivets.

This was also a good time to fabricate an electrical lead for the fuel sender unit installed on the fuel tank baffle. The lead was made with a piece of 18/16 Tefzel aircraft wire and a proper size ring connector. Just for good measure, I used a short piece of heat shrink insulator over the connector and wire after crimping. To protect the wire, I installed a grommet in the two Z brackets between the sender and the root rib. I could have routed the wire around the brackets but decided the bracket pass-thru was a convenient way to keep the wire out of the way when installing and/or removing the tank. Following installation, I tested the sender unit with a multimeter and got the resistance readings called out in Van's shop manual.
