Brief Description: Remaoval and clean up of Pitot Head
The Pitot head as fitted to the aircraft was covered in dry micro to protect it from being knocked. As I was cleaning the attachment points for the new brake lines I notice that the 90 degeree bend (into the airflow) appeared to have a flat spot and was missing micro (Refer fig1). I removed the micro and found that the pitot head was severely damaged. I removed it and cleaned up the aera to allow the fitting and fixing of the replacemnet Pitot head once made. (Refer figs 2 and 3) I am intending to use stainless steel as this is stronger and more durable than the 1/4 OD 0.32 inch Aluminium tube abd detailed in the builders manaul.
