Brief Description:  Inspection of left side and canard prior to Hi bui

Peter came over to inspect and advise on the preparedness of the left side of the aircraft prior to applying hi build primer. He identifed some low areas that required filling with knife putty on the canard the wing being satisfactory. I asked him about the undercuts on the fuselage to canard fillets near the trailing edge and he discovered that there was a crack in the fillet area aft of the recess. We cut back the paint and filler to expose the fibreglass for repair and then checked the left side as there was a recess in the same area (Ref Fig 2). I removed the paint and filler to prepare the area for glassing.
Peter suggested that the areas my have been cutback to allow the elevators cleaance during operation. To confirm this I am dry fitting the elevators to ensure that they do not bind against the airframe. Once I have them working properly I will fit the rigging to ensure that the elevators do not contact and bind the airframe.
After I have finsihed these tasks, I will get Peter to come out and check the work and we can do the Hi Build priming.
