This is the beginning of the "MASSIVE" level of modification from a RV-3 into what we are now calling the Hurricane. The use of two parallel pieces of 1/4" X 6" aluminum running fore to aft through the fuselage bottom, dubbed the " tunnel ", is how we created the height difference between the front and back seats. The front seat pans are actually cut into the tunnel while the original RV-3 seat pan and wing center section are attached directly on top of the tunnel. We are hoping that this difference in height gives better visability from the rear seat. The tunnel also serves as a great area to run push/pull tubes for the controls.
