After some prolonged deliberation with myself, I determined that the lancair type nose gear that was installed is not adequate. Attention was given as to how to more easily mount the oleo strut type nose gear from a Piper. It was designed to be retractable. I needed a good way to use is as a fixed nose gear. I came up with a solution. Simple really... abandon the original retract housing and fabricate one from steel which can be welded to the nose gear mount plate I was already using. The clamp sytle fit is very very rigid! Now, just get a rebuild kit for the o-rings and a new schroeder valve and we are in business.
