Brief Description:  Catching up

I haven't put anything in the log since our return from Sun N Fun. It was a good trip, but I got a little "sticker shock". I knew what most everything cost but it doesn't seem too bad until you add up all the individual components. Then the shock sets in. I spent alot of time at the Dynon booth looking at the new features and finally seeing the larger screen D-100 in person. I've made up my mind to go with the D-100 and EMS-120 combination. This will give us the most bang for the buck in my opinion. I don't know what that will leave for radios/GPS units but I'll make due to get flying. It will be easier to add radios etc. than it will to add an engine monitor or EFIS. I got to meet Tony Munday and his partner at the TRIO booth also. They have been really good to work with at SAFEAIR 1.
Anyway, since I last put anything in the log, I've finished the center section for now. All the parts are fabbed and the cover ribs are riveted to it. I made the spacers out of some scrap aluminum channel rather than the wood that's suggested. I used my milling machine to make them the same dimension as my spars, which happens to be 1.444 instead of the 1.438 that Van's suggested. I also have primed all the firewall stiffners and parts. As soon as I figure out how to drill the 5/8, 3/4 and 2" diameter holes, I will rivet it together. I then started on the F-705 bulkhead. I fabbed the F705B, 605C and 705H parts and am ready to match drill them in the next session. Hopefully I can take some pictures then.
