I mixed up some micro balloons and epoxy and put a pretty good coat on one elevator tip. I've read where it's better to put on too much and sand once than have to remix and do it again. This is really a learning experience. While I've done some body work on cars and even painted one, there wasn't any fiberglass to worry about.
