Brief Description:  Riveting Tank Stiffners and Dimpling Skins

Today we went out and removed the clecos from the drain flange and filler neck that we had prosealed last evening. I proceeded to squeeze the rivets I could on the drain flange (all) and the filler neck (about 4) then set the rest in the neck. I had to drill one back out and that was a real mess. I had mixed up a little proseal to "wet set" the rivets and after putting a little in each hole it made a real mess when I had to drill one out. Then we removed all the clecos in the stiffners, put a little proseal in every hole, and put a strip of rivet tape over them to hold them in place. Then I back riveted all of them in. I finished this part of the day by ensuring that there was a good fillet of proseal around all the parts that had been riveted along with a little dab on the shop heads of all the rivets. The clean up took longer than the riveting. We took a little break and then started on the top skins for the left wing. I removed them and Reva dimpled all three of them, while I countersunk the spar to accept the dimples. While I was at it I also countersunk the bottom flange of the spar. When Reva got the skins done I used my pneumatic squeezer and dimpled all the ribs, top and bottom, on the left wing. We finished the day by roughing up the ribs for the tank and will try to fay seal them in tomorrow. I think the fay sealing method is not nearly as messy as wet riveting the ribs in but only time will tell. It will still be a mess.As cool as it's been here the past couple of days, I need to let the proseal set up a little longer before riveting it. I think that will be better.
