Brief Description:  Left Leading Edge

Today is Columbus Day. We observe that holiday at work so I got to work on the plane. I started by making sure all the leading edge ribs were straight and then began clecoing them in the wing skin. I put it in the cradle I had previously made and got all the clecoes in the top side. That's where I ran into trouble. No matter what I did, I couldn't get the clecoes in the holes on the bottom. I was getting pretty frustrated so I walked in the house and did some searching on the internet for solutions. I found that at least one fellow had success by putting one cleco in the top and one in the bottom then working toward the trailing end. I went back to the shop and tried this and it worked great. Well, at least better. Anyway, I got it clecoed together about the time Reva got home. She helped me set it on the spar and I then clecoed it to the left wing. Before I quit, I fabbed the W- 919 splice plate and worked it in between the most inboard rib and the skin. Then match drilled those two parts. I'm out of clecoes again so I'll have to order more of those tomorrow. I begining to think that trying to build both wings at once isn't such a good idea. It appears that I'll need at least 200 more clecoes. I'll check e-bay tonite and if I can't find any, I'll call around for the cheapest price and order some more. At least I can sell them when I get done. Also, I got an e-mail today from the fellow I bought the lites from in Texas. He said he had rec'd the money order and shipped the lites on Saturday.
