Brief Description:  Centre / Forward Fuselage

I started the day by clecoing the belly skin to the main spar carry through. There are two flanges on the carry though so I riveted the aft flange & that went well. There is still a very small amount of flexibility in the carry through until the forward flange is riveted, that is good as it allows the holes to be aligned without too much trouble. There are 6 floor ribs that attach to the forward flange that share skin rivets so I marked which ones they are in order not to make the obvious mistake & discovered todays first problem. Two of the ribs are not aligned with any holes in the spar, the belly skin & floor skin set the direction of the ribs and these two are almost exactly half way between holes. The second problem for the day is that the afore mentioned ribs are about 2mm undersize vertically, resulting in the mounting flange of the rib hanging above the carry through flange. At this stage I'm thinking of simple 2mm thick spacers to take up the gap in the mounting flanges & secondly, producing a strap that will span two spar holes & because it will be 2mm thick, use a countersunk rivet to connect the rib to the strap.
