Yesterday was taken up with a working bee at the aero-club so once again no work done on the project. This morning I continued installing ribs, not for too long though. Somehow, one of the collets (jaws?) on my "POP" brand riveters broke, leaving the rivet only half set and the stem chewed off at half length. Of course it would be one of the most difficult positions from which to extricate a dud rivet. 2 hours later it was out & I went to the hardware shop to purchase a replacement. I found a compact set for only $10 and to my surprise they work a treat. I needed to open the rivet holes in the flight control hinge brackets to 4.8mm so after doing that I dipped them in the alodine tank so the holes are coated prior to riveting. Whilst I was at the tank I alodined the backing plates for the strobe lights and the small, inboard wing skin. I was able to install one more rib (#3) & install the flap hinge bracket to rib 4. All day taken to achieve not a great deal.
