I then fit the HS-00005 rib as diected in the instructions and then match drilled the holes through the forward spar. However after fitting the rib to the skins and the spars, the resulting match drilled holes were found to be uncomfortably close to the webbing of the ribs. After conferring with Van's technical counselors, the holes were judged to be in an okay position. However in view of keeping workmanship of high quality, I reordered the HS-00005 rib to redrill the holes in the middle of the rib. Although no one will see these holes in the ribs, I'd rather know that they went right through the middle of the flange of the rib.
While I was waiting for a new rib to arrive, I decided to work around the missing part. So I used the other HS-00005 to complete the left Horizontal Stabilizer, and moved on with the project.
