Brief Description:  Horizontal Stab Nose Rib Installation

This log entry records my work on the horizontal stabilizer. I attempted to to install the nose rib to the right horizontal stabilizer. unfortunately I started incorrectly and that completely undermined my efforts to do the task correctly. I should have started on the forward most nose rib first. Also, I should have used my swivel mushroom flat set. However I used a non-swivel head flat set to attempt to install the rivets. Installing the aft rivets first was easier initially due to the relatively flat surface. However as I moved further forward, and the curve increased, my struggles began to increase exponentially. Lastly, I should have attempted to rivet in the nose rib begining on the bottom where mistskes might not be visible, whereas I started on the top, where all my mistakes would be prominently visible.

So, as the resistance of the skin to bending increases alot as you get closer to the leading egde, so I was unable to confidently install the foremost rivet. Secondly, using a non-swiveling head I made a small but prominent dent in the upper surface of the horizontal stab. Noting my errors, I elected to stop working on the part until I got more confident with my tools and and the material. I must have thought about that dent for three weeks....
