Brief Description:  Empenage Priming

This log entry details how I primed the internal pieces of the empenage.

I began by taking the parts that I had washed with dish soap the previous day, and wiping them with Acetone to remove and latent oils and dirt that remained. Then the parts were re-marked with a sharpie to maintain their label and orientation markings. Then I began priming the parts using an aerosol Moeller Zinc Phosphate Epoxy primer. I shot one coat, then went back and recoated any areas that were missed or only had an imperceptible amount of primer adhering to the visiblie surfaces. I waited approximately 20 minutes between each layer, then waited 40 minutes before flipping over the parts and doing the opposite side of the piece.

After allowing for an hopur to dry, I suspended the peices in a box with fishing line creating rows, and allowed the parts to hang and dry.
