In my first day back in the shop I decided to do some minor tasks.
First I disassembled the rudder and took some 0.032" 2024-T3 from the trim bundle and remade the R-917 Rudder shim. The firsat time I driled all three holes at once. This time I followed the instruction to correctly create the rudder shim. I drilled the first hole in the directed position, 1/4" x 1/4" from the left edge of the shim. Then I installed the shim onto the rudder spar, with the R-904 Bottom Rib to keep the R-917 squared on the spar. Then I used the rudder spar as a guide to drill the remaining two holes.
Following the creation of the R-917 Shim, I carefully deburred both sides to the Left Rudder Skin.
