Today I made a small mistake, while dimpling the VS-707 rib I damaged the flange of the rib with an inadvertant dimple using the pneumatic squeezer. The squeezer slipped in my hand and damaged the flange, squeezing and deforming the area adjacent to a rivet hole.
To repair the damage, I used a pair of seaming pliers to flatten out the dented flange. Once the flange was flattened out I then smoothed out the area with a scotchbrite wheel.
Later I called Vans to check on the viability of this part. I was assured that the damage to the flange was inconsequential, and as the rib was not structural a replacement part was not needed.
