I cut of the hooks at each end and used new delrin bearings to create two independent hooks. The new delrin bearing fit just inside the row of rivets. I then removed one of the rivets and discovered that it aligned nearly perfectly with the hinge point. Hopefully this means I only need to enlarge this hole for the connecting mechanism.
