As I have the VS and rudder mounted, I decided to check the rudder tail spring (lack of) clearance. I went to town with the belt sander and took of a lot of material. It’s an easy layup as there is plenty of access on both sides. I just needed to make sure I kept it flat (for a while it started to take the original pre-sanded shape....) I ended up with only 1/4 clearance on an unloaded tail spring. I cannot see how the tail spring can deflect more in that area, but I might have to make the clearance bigger.
