I sliced the play doh at the middle and measured the thickness required to fill the void. Some areas was above 0.2 inches, it also varied a bit along the rivet line. I started making spacer of various cut-offs from earlier in the building periods. Angles, block anything I could find that had approximate the thickness I needed. All aircraft grade of course.
I used a plane sander to fine-tune the dimensions.
