Brief Description:  Practice 5/32 solid riveting

I took one of the 0.25" bars and the 0.032 strip in my 3/16" rivet practice assembly plus a 0.125 bar and drilled it for 5/32" rivets. I put 4 3/16" rivets to hold the assembly together for repeated practice. The only 5/32 rivets I have are -10's, i.e., 5/8" long, which is about a mm short of what I should use for the assembly.

I riveted the assembly using my 3X rivet gun and various bucking bars. At my max compressor pressure of ~75 psi, the 3X guns worked very well with the 5/32 rivets. Even though the 5/32 rivets are much easier to drive than the longer 3/16" rivets, I still needed two hands to control the rivet gun well, so it was a two person job.

We tried all of the various bucking bars that I have, ranging from ~1.5 lb to 3 lb to 7.75 lb. Don thought that bucking was significantly easier with the 7.75 lb bar. The results were good. We tried using the beveled edge of the bar and that worked fine also.

Bottom line, I don't think that driving the 5/32 rivets will be a problem.
