Brief Description: Drill rib stiffeners, deburr, & scour
|
|
1. Drilled #30 & clecoed stiffeners to ribs1-4, and WLO attachment L-angle on rib 5.
2. Drilled #20 & clecoed the WLO attachment L-angles on ribs 4 & 5.
3. Disassembled the stiffeners and ribs.
4. Cut a disk of ScotchBrite to fit a hand drill sanding disk and used that to scour the stiffeners. I clamped the stiffener to a 2x4 which was, in turn, clamped to the table. This greatly reduced the labor for scouring the stiffeners. See fig. 1. Unfortunately, I could not use the disk effectively on the joint line on the ribs.
5. Used Olfa knife to cut 4 160-mmx160-mm pices of 0.025 scrap to make lightening hole covers. The cutting process is as described on 2/4/08. Fig. 2 shows the scoring in progress.
The resulting squares were very uniform. Fig. 3 shows the squares and the essential cutting tools, combination square, Olfa knife, and pen.
6. Drew12-mm radius on the corners of the squares, I will butt the two aft covers against the stiffener, so those corners were not rounded. Cut the rounded corners with snips, and deburred with the ScotchBrite wheel.
7. Marked a rivet line 9-mm from the edge. Marked corner rivets, then used the rivet fan to locate two evenly spaced rivets on each side.
