Brief Description:  Drill stabilizer top skin for front spar & ribs, i

1. I carefully determined that the stabilizer was as twist-free as I could make it, as described earlier.

2. I marked the spar and ribs through the predrilled pilot holes. Then I loosened the skin and inspected for edge/flange distance on the spar and ribs. While several ribs were not on the hole-line, in all cases, the holes met the CS-101 requirements. See image 1 & 2.

3. I drilled & clecoed the front spar between the two inside ribs.

4. I drilled & clecoed the inside ribs.

5. Then continued in this fashion to the outside rib.

6. I inserted the end ribs into each end of the stabilzer. I tapped the end if the ribs with a hammer cushioned by a block of wood to force the rib forward. Then I used a logitudinal strap on the stab with a piece of 1x2 and a short 2x4 on each end to distribute force. See Image 3.

7. I marked holes as above, disassembled, the end ribs and checked for edge/flange distances. All holes met CS-101.

8. I reasembled the ribs and drilled and clecoed.

9. I marked the bottom corners of the ribs and removed the corner per instructions.

10. I marked about 1-mm of overhang on the skin at the top-rear edge. I removed the clecoes, turned the stab over, and clamped the skin to the edge of the table with about a 3-5-mm overhang. Then I used a Vixen file to cut the edge of the skin to the line. I deburred and then reassembled the stab to prepare to drill for the piano hinge.
