Brief Description: Stab rear spar doubler and attachment
I cut the rear spar attachment, 6T2-3. I cut the rounded notch on the wrong end of the attachment, but did not notice the error until I began fitting the attachment to the rear spar. Image 3 (from the PAM) shows the correct cut.
Lessons learned:
1. Make a sketch before cutting parts and confirm to all relevant photos in PAM and on dwgs. 2. When smoothing the rough cut edges of the attachment, be super careful not to poke the part with the file. It's easy to spend more time getting rid of scratches, etc., than was spent on the rest of the job. 3. I need to buy a file card to clean up the soft aluminum off my files.
I drilled and clecoed the doublers (6T1-6HD & 6T1-7HD) and the shim (6T2-6HD) without any apparent problem. I also need to be very carefull not to scratch the spar when deburring.
I ordered a new rear spar attachment on line from ZAC, $24 plus Fed-Ex shipping.
While I await delivery, I can work on the elevator.
