Brief Description:  Drill, cleco, & rivet wing spar tips to main spars

I have decided to build the right wing first. That way, I won't need to get the pitot tube quite as soon.

1. Identified right & left spars. Working on the right spar:

2. Drilled & clecoed 3/32", 1/8", and #20 the right wing tip to the spar.

3. Cut a piece of L-angle to 230-mm, and then marked it for 7 holes at 35-mm pitch. The dwg. called for 40-mm pitch. But the spacing was such that the choice was35 or 42-mm pitch, and I chose 35-mm and 7 rivets.

4. Drilled & clecoed 3/32" & #30 the L-angle to the 45° end of the spar tip.

5. Measured the location for the rear rib (RR)-9 rivet line (3150-mm from the bottom of the inboard end of the spar per Dwg. 6W5). Marked the location for 6 holes@38-mm pitch. Drilled 3/32" pilot holes on the drill press.

6. Deburred, scoured, washed w/ lacquer thinner, and primed the joint line between the wing spar and the spar tip.

7. Riveted A5 the spar tip to the spar.

8. Repeated steps 2-6 on the left spar. The left spar will now go into storage, probably until I finish the right wing.

6. Clecoed A5 & riveted the right spar tip to the spar. See Figs 1, 2, & 3.
